(Message inbox:7644) A NOTE ABOUT "Option 4 (The Chevey Cavalier)": I left out a second set of stairs and a door, which I understand are required by fire code. I have included those missing stairs in the following schematic, where they are pointed to via "<<<<" (this is of course not to scale): . "Ramp . room": +---------+ ( r = ramp | rrrrrrr| D = door D r| S = stairs | rrrr| g = glass ) +-----D---+-------------------------...-------+ | r\ | | \ MACHINE ROOM | | (NOTE 1) | | | +------D+ <<<< forgotten door | | S| <<<< | | S| <<<< | | S| <<<< forgotten stairs | | g | | +-+ g | | | | g S| | | | g S| | +-+ g S| | +-gggggggggggggggggggggggggg...ggggg-D+ D D D (Bay door) . . Some issues near "Note 1": . I assume that the ramp only has to maintain a grade dictated by machine movement (and mover) safety, not ADA requirements. If it has to be longer, the scheme may not work. . The intention here is for most of the ramp's length to "serpintine" through what is now that back 10'x 20' storage closet, having been "fed" - if you will - by a door we would open in that outer wall. . It is not clear to me that it makes sense to talk about a door at the point where that ramp enters the machine room raised floor space (what "NOTE 1" is pointing at), but I guess I can in fact imagine an 8' wide double door system that is slightly taller than the ceiling-to-raised- floor distance and that fits inside the ramp width. The purpose of this door would be as the second half of the "airlock" associated with the "ramp room", the first half being the (new) outside door (which would also be 8' wide double doors.)
