Requirements for the CSE program

| | For the Graduate Certificate Program: Prerequisites A Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a scientific discipline. Students from other disciplines will also be considered on a case-by-case basis. Acceptance into a qualifying graduate program at UNM. One year of general college physics or chemistry. One year of differential/integral calculus, a course in multivariable calculus, a course in differential equations, and a course in linear algebra. A course in computer programming (either FORTRAN, C, or C++) or equivalent experience. It is required that a second course on the level of CS 251 be completed, or equivalent experience demonstrated, as prerequisite to CS442/ECE432.
For the post-graduate certificate program: The Post-Degree certificate in Computational Science & Engineering certifies the satisfactory completion of approved coursework and a project in high-performance computing, under the direction of a member of the Associated Faculty from a participating department. Prerequisites - A Ph.D. degree in a mathematical, scientific, or engineering discipline.
- Official enrollment at UNM and acceptance into a qualified graduate program. Non-degree status is acceptable. However, for the certificate to be posted on the transcript, a student must be admitted to a participating department. Consult the UNM Office of Graduate Studies for additional information.
